If you are a movie junkie, you will certainly realize how big of an impact a movie can have on your life. A good and inspiring movie can instantly suck you in and you will find yourself stuck in front of the screen, amazed until the very last moment. A movie can definitely change one’s perspective and turn you into a completely different person. A movie can also provide you a life-changing experience and leave you with an everlasting memory, just like what happened to me after watching a Bollywood movie called “3 Idiots”.

3 Idiots is a comedy-drama movie released in 2009. Generally, this movie revolves around three friends, Rancho, Farhan and Raju, who were the three idiots, against an arrogant Ugandan Tamil student who was obsessed with topping the exams, Chatur. This movie has definitely inspired me not just by the characters, but also from the movie plot. One of the reasons why I was so inspired by this movie was due to the portrayal that the greatest power a man can possess is the power to believe in one’s self. Doors of opportunities will only open when you start believing in yourself. This movie also taught me that sometimes believing in yourself is the only thing you need in life in order to succeed and move forward. Rancho, one of the main characters said that the heart is sometimes just very scared. Hence, to calm your heart, just put your hand on your heart and say “All Izz Well” which just means “all is well”.

Next, one of the greatest impact this movie has on me is that it showed me that when you strive for excellence, success will follow. Many people look at fake and instant success instead of chasing the right thing, which is excellence. This movie showed that in a very practical way. In this movie, Chatur has always been chasing after fake success (money), while Rancho lured for excellence. In the end of the movie, it was revealed that Chatur was the one chasing Rancho for a multi-million dollar deal. This shows that Rancho was the success himself and not Chatur.

One aspect that I really love about this movie is that it taught me to always have a few idiot friends with me. The term idiots in the movie does not mean foolish or stupid but it rather means a person who has the ability to go against the norm. Idiots in this context means a person who can think outside of the box and have ideas and answers which normally people do not think of. No one has even won a war individually. Hence, it is very important to have some idiots around us who can guide us in the right direction and gives us an extra push. Therefore, always keep your idiots close.

As a whole, this is one of the best movies I have ever watched. This movie taught me a lot of lessons and values that I found very useful. This movie showed that everyone has difficulties in life and has a long journey to success, but with the right mind and right people around us to give guidance, success will surely come. Therefore, I would definitely recommend everyone to watch this movie as I think those who has never seen the movie are missing out big time.
