COVID-19: 4,865 new cases, Malaysia's highest death record of 47 cases

KUALA LUMPUR – On Tuesday, a total of 4,865 new COVID-19 positive cases were registered, taking the total to 479,421 cases.


Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, Director-General of Health, announced via Twitter that the number of deaths had risen to 47, taking the figure to 1,994 cases.


This is the country's largest recent death rate on record. Malaysia has had the highest death toll on Monday, with 45 people killed.

"There are 47 death cases today, with 18 cases in Selangor, five in Sarawak and Penang, four in Johor, Kuala Lumpur, and Kelantan, three in Perak, two in Pahang, and one in Kedah and Negeri Sembilan," he said in a regular statement on the COVID-19 case on Tuesday.


Dr. Noor Hisham also reported that Selangor still has the most promising cases, with 1,743 cases.


Sarawak came in second with 512 cases, followed by the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur (477), Johor (407) and Kelantan (402). (406).


He also mentioned that 3,497 new cases were added, taking the number to 432,600.


Meanwhile, there were 44,827 operating cases, with 531 patients seeking medication in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 277 patients requiring respirators.
