KUALA LUMPUR, 7 MAY 2021: Three villages in Mukim Bunut Susu in Pasir Mas, Kelantan will be placed under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) from May 9 to 22.


The two-weeks EMCO will affect the villages namely Kampung Bechah Palas, Kampung Paya Ular and Kampung Tualang.


“The decision to impose the EMCO was made following risk assessments conducted among several agencies under the MCO Technical Committee and on the advice of the Health Ministry,” said Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob in a statement today.


Ismail Sabri also disclosed that the decision to implement the EMCO was based on the Ministry of Health's (MOH) dentification of a spike in the number of new positive cases.


A total number of 120 positive cases were detected from the three villages. 52 cases were from Kampung Bechah Palas, while 42 and 26 cases respectively came from Kampung Paya Ular and Kampung Tualang.

He said the EMCO is being implemented to enable for early case detection and thus preventing the virus from spreading to nearby villages.


In the meantime, the EMCO at Sekolah Menengah Sains Banting in Kuala Langat, Selangor, will end today (May 7).


The EMCO in Kampung Muhibbah Raya, Tawau, Sabah, and Maahad Tahfiz Sains Tanah Merah, Kelantan, which were scheduled to last until May 8 and May 16, respectively, were lifted earlier than scheduled, also today (May 7).
