KUALA LUMPUR, 22 MAY 2021: Several localities in Sabah, Sarawak and Pahang will be put under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) starting Monday (May 24) until June 6 following a significant increase in COVID-19 cases during a short period in these areas.
The EMCO would be enforced in localities in Sabah at Kampung Melikai, Kuala Penyu, and Silimpopon Estate as well as Silimpopon Mill, Kalabakan.
Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob reported that 15 residents in Kampung Melikai had been confirmed to be COVID-19 positive, while 42 cases were detected in Silimpopon Estate and Silimpopon Mill.
“The EMCO would also be enforced in the Nyalu Long House in Mukah, Sarawak after 79 residents tested positive as of today,” he said in a statement today.
In Pahang, the affected areas include Taman Gau Indah, Taman Gau Makmur, Taman Gau Aman, Taman Gau Idaman, and Kampung Gau Baru, which had 16 positive cases as of yesterday.
Aside from that, the EMCO would be implemented in seven sub-districts in the Kuantan district, namely Beserah, Kuala Kuantan 1 and 2, Penor, Sungai Karang, Ulu Kuantan, and Ulu Lepar.
Ismail Sabri also confirmed that the Ministry of Health (MOH) had completed 6,548 screening tests in these areas, with 619 of them returning positive.

He also stated that the EMCO in Taman Tanah Putih Baru, Kuantan, Pahang, as well as the Jali and Lanyau long houses in Mukah, Sarawak, will end tomorrow due to a decrease in the number of cases and clusters being under control.
Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri announced that police arrested 495 people for violating the standard operating procedure (SOP) yesterday, with 476 being compounded, 15 remanded, and four were released on bail.
"Under the nationwide Ops Benteng yesterday, 20 illegal immigrants were detained while two land vehicles were seized," he said.
