KUALA LUMPUR, 16 MAY 2021: Following an increase in COVID-19 cases, Bandar Darulaman and Lubuk Kawah in Kedah, and Ulu Lepar in Pahang, will be put under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) from May 18 to 31.

Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Senior Minister (Security Cluster), said in a statement today that the EMCO in Bandar Darulaman and Lubuk Kawah involves a total of nine localities.

The localities include Taman Mahsuri 2A, Taman Mahsuri 2B, Taman Mahsuri 2C, Pusat Perniagaan Bandar Barat, Kampung Paya Kerchut, Taman Tunku Anum, Kampung Lubuk Kawah, Taman Desa Tanjung and Taman Desa Darul Aman Mukim Naga.

According to Ismail Sabri, the Health Ministry (MOH) conducted 207 COVID-19 screenings in those areas, with 94 people testing positive for the virus, with eight positive cases reported in Ulu Lepar, Pahang.

The MOH also reported an increase in cases as well as a high infectivity rate in the areas.

Meanwhile, the EMCO at Windmills Condominium, Genting View Resorts and Apartment Mawar in Genting Highlands, Pahang will end today.

“The EMCO in those areas was terminated earlier than scheduled on May 23 after the MOH confirmed a drop in cases and that the clusters were under control with all positive cases having received treatment,” said Ismail Sabri.

The decision was made after only seven people out of the 237 screenings conducted by the MOH were tested positive for COVID-19.
